Beet pulp is one of the byproducts left after processing beets to obtain sugar in sugar factories. Sugar beets are chopped and taken into boiling tanks in production facilities. Beet choppings processed in boiling tanks for a certain period release their sugar into the water. Choppings enriched with sugar are taken into operation to obtain sugar as syrup. Choppings with low sugar content are separated as wet beet pulp. Wet beet pulps are offered for consumption as animal feed after passing through a press.
In addition, wet beet pulps are dried, treated with some molasses, and pelletized. Pelletized dry beet pulps are marketed for use in feeding cattle. Sugar beet pulp, which is consumed with pleasure by ruminants due to the sugar it contains, has a positive effect on milk fat in cows.
